Prebiotics

Prebiotic Glucooligosaccharides

Prebiotic ingredients selectively stimulate the growth and metabolic activity of beneficial strains belonging to different human ecosystems.

Following numerous scientific works carried out in partnership with research teams in Toulouse, Genibio has selected specific gluco-oligosaccharides with prebiotic properties particularly remarkable towards commensal vaginal flora, consisting essentially of lactobacilli, such as Lactobacillus Crispatus. These oligosaccharides reinforce the barrier effect of the flora with respect to pathogenic bacteria (vaginosis).

Production

GENIBIO produces alpha-glucooligosaccharides by a process of biocatalysis, developed by our laboratory. The main unit operations are:

• Enzymatic synthesis
• Demineralization of sugars
• Purification by ion exchange chromatography
• Concentration under the form of syrup or spray drying
